Inspiring Songs to Get By: Lean On Me

unnamed

I was a secondary school student when I first came in contact with this song. Originally recorded by Bill Withers, it was however, the Michael Bolton’s version that I heard. That song motivated me to watch the movie where it was used as a soundtrack.
I was and I’m still fascinated with the song because of the truth it carries: we all need each other. The all-wise parents need their stubborn, incompetent children and vice versa; the rich businessman needs his struggling customers; the manager needs the employees; the holy preacher needs the congregation; the leader, his followers. On and on and on… we all need people to lean on.
If we all know this, then no one should feel either too proud or timid to ask for help. Nobody knows it all; nobody has it all. We all need the help of others.

Lean On Me
Sometimes in our lives

We all have pain

We all have sorrow

But, if we are wise

We know that there’s always tomorrow

Lean on me when you’re not strong

And I’ll be your friend

I’ll help you carry on

For it won’t be long

Till I’m gonna need

Somebody to lean on

You can call on me brother

When you need a hand

We all need somebody to lean on

I just might have a problem

That you’ll understand

We all need somebody to lean on

Please, swallow your pride

If I have things

You need to borrow

For no one can fill

Those of your needs

That you won’t let show

Lean on me when you’re not strong

And I’ll be your friend

I’ll help you carry on

For it won’t be long

Till I’m gonna need

Somebody to lean on

If there is a load

You have to bear

That you can’t carry

I’m right up the road

I’ll share your load

If you just call me, call me

If you need a friend, call me

If you need a friend

If you ever need a friend

Call me Call me
